Unknown Company is hiring a PCA II - Interventional Radiology

UMass Memorial Health is looking for a PCA II – Interventional Radiology to join our patient care team. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will provide essential care to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients, serving as an integral member of the health care team.

What You'll Do

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations and changes.
• Participate in maintaining a safe environment, including de-escalation and restraint procedures.
• Assist patients with daily living activities like personal hygiene, ambulating, and meals.
• Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
• Maintain patient safety through safety checks and fall prevention devices.
• Take and record vital signs, height, and weight.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, Point of Care tests, bladder scans, and specimen collection according to hospital standards.
• Perform unit-specific procedures such as equipment checks, cleaning, and supply storage.
• Assist RNs and Licensed Independent Practitioners with treatments and procedures by preparing patients and equipment.
• Observe, measure, and record oral intake; assist with tube feeding and record output.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges; function as a unit secretary with administrative duties.
• Answer telephones, take messages, and use intra-department communication systems.
• Replenish patient and unit supplies and equipment.
• Comply with all hospital, nursing department, and unit-based policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Keep current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards, notices, and emails.
• Attend required staff meetings and in-service programs.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
• Rotate assignments between multiple care areas in the department.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• One of the following is required: Prior clinical experience or acute care training; Nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation; One year of experience as a PCA I – Inpatient with completed unit-based competency requirements.
• Current Basic Life Support or Heart Saver certification.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
• Must utilize proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
• Strong interpersonal skills to gather information, build relationships, and provide exceptional service.
• Proven interpersonal skills for respectful, culturally and age-appropriate communication.
• Proven problem-solving abilities for routine situations.
• Ability to remain calm under stress or in emergency situations.
• Sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs.

Nice to Have

• Current CNA or EMT license or Certified Medical Assistant.
