RSM is looking for a P&C Actuary to join our team. In this role, you will provide critical insights to insurance regulators and impact the marketplace directly. You will work on a variety of engagements with a team of industry professionals, offering significant opportunity for personal and professional growth.
What You'll Do
- Serve as an actuarial subject matter expert on client engagements.
- Identify and assess significant reserving, pricing, capital, and reinsurance risks during financial examinations.
- Review complex rate filings for reasonableness and regulatory compliance.
- Assist audit teams in assessing the reasonableness of financial statement accruals.
- Support special projects like industry research and market conduct examinations.
- Coordinate internal resources and advise project teams to meet client needs.
- Document observations and conclusions, adhering to actuarial standards of practice.
- Communicate effectively with clients and cross-functional project teams.
- Adhere to project budgets and timelines.
- Cultivate client relationships to help generate incremental business.
- Enhance tools and templates to ensure work efficiency and excellence.
- Contribute to the intellectual capital of the practice and the Firm.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or Statistics.
- Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in a P&C insurance company, financial services, or consulting firm.
- Knowledge of reserving, pricing, ratemaking, capital modeling, and/or enterprise risk management.
- Understanding of insurance rates and regulatory requirements for supporting reserve levels.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- PC skills, including experience with software for presentations, spreadsheets, and project planning (skills in TeamMate, Access, Visual Basic, MS Excel).
- Ability to interact with all levels, including executives and senior managers.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, analytical, and statistical sampling skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Dynamic demeanor with exceptional client service skills.
- Self-motivated with a sense of ownership and pride in your work.
- Ability to travel on occasion.
- Knowledge of Actuarial Standards of Practice and Actuarial Code of Conduct.
- Ability to demonstrate ethical and professional standards as outlined by the Firm.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a public accounting or consulting firm with complex modeling, regulatory consulting, and/or audit support.
- ACAS, FCAS, MAAA designations.
- Experience with personal lines, commercial lines, and reinsurance.
- Experience with machine learning and AI tools.
