International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. is looking for a Payroll Specialist to take full ownership of our payroll operations. You will develop procedures and be responsible for the preparation, documentation, and disbursement of all payroll checks, taxes, and employee benefit payments. Reporting to the HR Business Partner for Canada, you will operate autonomously, requiring minimal direction while ensuring meticulous accuracy and compliance.
What You'll Do
- Process and oversee all payroll, payroll records, and associated data.
- Ensure accurate accounting distribution and preparation of deductions.
- Maintain proper governmental reporting and compliance.
- Process and oversee irregular payments, such as sales draws, bonuses, retention payments, and expense claims.
- Collaborate regularly with HR to coordinate pay, benefits, and deductions.
- Resolve payroll issues escalated by managers and discuss payroll matters directly with employees.
- Review and verify wage computations using audit reports and correct errors prior to final processing.
- Continuously review payroll activities, processes, and systems to maximize efficiency.
- Maintain current tax laws and requirements within processes and the ADP system.
- Maintain and manage the ADP database.
- Adhere to strict processing guidelines and deadlines while ensuring data integrity and internal controls.
- Partner with the Payroll Accountant to ensure accurate and timely posting of transactions and journal entries.
- Support and administer HR functions as they relate to compliance and payroll.

- Progressive experience in payroll processes.
- Extensive knowledge of employment and payroll tax laws, regulations, principles, methods, and techniques.
- In-depth familiarity with ADP Payroll processing systems.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- A high attention to detail is essential.
- Strong quantitative skills, data analysis, and spreadsheet knowledge.
- Solid customer relations skills and the ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Working knowledge of HRIS and reporting skills is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be comfortable interacting with associates at all levels, including senior management.
- Must be self-motivated, a strong problem solver, and detail-oriented.
Nice to Have
- Payroll Certification to the CPA or demonstration of working towards the certification.
