About the Role
The role involves managing and overseeing payroll operations for Spain, ensuring timely and accurate processing, compliance with local regulations, and serving as a point of contact for payroll-related inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage monthly payroll processing for employees in Spain
- Ensure all payroll activities comply with Spanish labor laws and tax regulations
- Supervise payroll data accuracy, including hours, wages, deductions, and bonuses
- Coordinate with HR and finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies
- Prepare and review payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Manage year-end processes and statutory filings specific to Spain
- Support audits by providing accurate and timely payroll documentation
- Train and mentor junior payroll staff on best practices and system usage
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors
- Stay updated on changes in Spanish payroll legislation and tax codes
- Collaborate with global payroll team to align procedures and reporting
- Oversee payroll calendar adherence and ensure on-time delivery
- Troubleshoot payroll system issues and coordinate with IT when needed
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee compensation data
- Assist in payroll integration during mergers, acquisitions, or system changes
- Ensure proper tax withholding and social security contributions
- Work with third-party providers for pension and benefits administration
- Verify contractor and freelancer payments in compliance with local rules
- Support payroll testing during system upgrades or new implementations
- Document payroll policies and procedures for Spain operations
- Escalate complex payroll issues to management when necessary
- Promote a culture of compliance and accuracy within the payroll function
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payslips and deductions
- Monitor payroll metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Ensure data privacy standards are followed in all payroll activities
