As a Payroll Specialist based in Lisbon, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of US payroll operations within a hybrid work model. Working as part of a global team, you will use Workday and SAP systems to prepare, calculate, and finalize weekly and monthly payroll cycles. Your responsibilities will include processing timekeeping data, managing employee status changes, tax adjustments, deductions, and handling retroactive payments and special transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain payroll setups for recurring and non-recurring cycles
- Collaborate with time administrators to verify and validate hours and leave records
- Execute payroll audits, troubleshoot discrepancies, and apply corrective actions
- Support year-end W-2 preparation and related reporting requirements
- Conduct system testing for updates, tax changes, bonuses, and new functionality
- Generate ad hoc reports and manage bulk data entries as needed
- Assist the Payroll Accounting team with reconciliations and financial accruals
- Identify inefficiencies and lead initiatives to enhance payroll workflows
- Respond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll-related incidents promptly
Qualifications
You bring a degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics and demonstrate strong attention to detail and analytical thinking. Fluency in English is essential, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP or HR systems. You have a solid understanding of end-to-end business controls and a track record of improving processes. Experience with US payroll regulations and functional use of systems like Workday or SAP is highly valued.
Success in this role requires strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively in remote, cross-functional environments. Willingness to travel may be required.
