Remote is hiring a Payroll Risk & Compliance Expert - Middle East

Lead payroll compliance across the Middle East by serving as the authoritative source on local employment regulations and ensuring their accurate integration into systems and processes. You will interpret evolving legislation and transform statutory requirements—covering taxation, thresholds, and edge cases—into clear, actionable specifications for Product and Engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary compliance authority for your jurisdiction(s), ensuring laws are correctly translated into payroll logic and system behavior
  • Design and lead multi-country or high-risk audit initiatives, from planning through remediation, and establish scalable audit frameworks
  • Collaborate with Product Design to shape compliant, intuitive, and auditable user experiences
  • Review technical specifications and validate outputs to guarantee alignment with current regulations
  • Investigate compliance incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventative measures
  • Develop standardized processes, controls, SOPs, and monitoring tools to maintain ongoing adherence
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for compliance rules, workflows, and system logic
  • Deliver training, lead learning sessions, and coach team members to strengthen regional expertise
  • Partner with cross-functional teams—including Legal, Support, and Customer Success—to embed compliance into product and operational decisions
  • Support market expansion and customer escalations with clear, practical guidance

What We’re Looking For

  • In-depth knowledge of payroll and employment law in the Middle East, with proven ability to convert legal requirements into technical implementations
  • Experience leading audits, compliance programs, or regulatory reviews
  • Track record of working effectively with technical teams to define product logic from statutory rules
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across departments and leadership levels
  • Demonstrated judgment in managing high-risk or sensitive compliance matters
  • Experience mentoring others and building team capability
  • Ability to design scalable frameworks, processes, and controls in a fast-moving, asynchronous, fully remote environment
