What You'll Do
- Oversee the full payroll cycle globally—from data collection and processing to disbursement, reconciliation, and reporting—for a diverse workforce spanning multiple countries and employment types.
- Execute bi-monthly payroll runs and manage monthly adjustments, ensuring all employees and contractors are paid accurately and on schedule.
- Create and maintain structured payroll calendars with clear deadlines and accountability across HR, finance, and department leads.
- Coordinate payments through platforms including Wise, Payoneer, Deel, and Gusto, ensuring correct data formatting and system alignment.
- Verify and validate CSV uploads for each platform, maintaining compliance and accuracy in processing.
- Reconcile payments after distribution and confirm funding accuracy across financial systems.
- Design validation steps within the payroll workflow to catch errors and prevent missed inputs.
- Establish formal controls between HR and Finance for onboarding, offboarding, salary changes, bonuses, commissions, and expense reimbursements.
- Enhance data consistency between BambooHR and payroll models to improve reliability.
- Develop, document, and maintain standardized operating procedures to reduce risk and support scalability.
- Manage payroll across various currencies and legal jurisdictions, verifying exchange rates and payment accuracy.
- Support different worker classifications, including full-time employees, contractors, hourly staff, and those with special pay arrangements.
- Maintain detailed payroll models in Google Sheets and oversee end-to-end commission and bonus calculations.
- Collaborate with Sales and department heads to confirm variable compensation inputs.
- Ensure timely and correct payouts for bonuses and commissions.
- Keep detailed schedules and records for audits and financial reviews.
- Conduct regular payroll reconciliations and align results with departmental budgets.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in payroll outputs.
- Maintain accrual tracking to support month-end closing processes.
- Update budget allocations after payroll cycles to improve financial visibility for leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on payroll experience
- Proven track record managing payroll for organizations with 100+ employees
- Direct experience with multi-country, multi-currency payroll operations
- Familiarity with running payroll in environments without fully automated systems
- Strong expertise in payroll reconciliations and internal control frameworks
- Advanced skills in Google Sheets or Excel
- Effective communication abilities across departments and time zones
- Detail-oriented, process-focused, and self-driven work style
- Experience working in remote or globally distributed teams
