Miter is hiring a Payroll Operations Manager

About the Role

This role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and timely delivery across multiple jurisdictions. The manager will lead process improvements, support audits, and collaborate with HR and finance teams to maintain data integrity and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of payroll processing for domestic and international employees
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Manage payroll calendar and deadlines across time zones
  • Lead audits and prepare documentation for tax filings
  • Collaborate with HR on employee data changes and employment actions
  • Supervise payroll team members and delegate tasks effectively
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
  • Maintain payroll system accuracy and troubleshoot discrepancies
  • Partner with finance on month-end and year-end close activities
  • Monitor tax filings and deposits to ensure timeliness
  • Support system upgrades and integrations with HRIS platforms
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for payroll functions
  • Ensure data security and confidentiality of employee records
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to pay and deductions
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers
  • Train team members on new regulations and system updates
  • Track key performance metrics for payroll operations
  • Manage year-end reporting including W-2 and 1099 preparation
  • Stay current on evolving labor and tax laws
  • Escalate risks and compliance issues to leadership as needed
