Lead and optimize payroll operations for Central America, overseeing the full payroll lifecycle in countries including Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. This fully remote position requires a skilled professional with deep knowledge of local labor laws, tax regulations, and social security requirements across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end in-house payroll processes, from data collection and validation to final payments and compliance reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely statutory filings, tax remittances, and social security contributions in accordance with local regulations.
- Maintain data integrity and meet performance metrics, including SLAs and KPIs, across all payroll cycles.
- Collaborate with Finance, Product, Implementation, and Support teams to align operations and resolve issues efficiently.
- Identify inefficiencies and lead initiatives to standardize, automate, and improve payroll workflows.
- Handle complex payroll cases, escalations, and exceptions with precision and a proactive approach.
- Support and guide payroll specialists, fostering team development and knowledge transfer.
- Conduct payroll accounting and reconciliation activities to support financial reporting and audits.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing payroll across Central American countries, with strong familiarity in local compliance and labor regulations.
- Deep understanding of tax structures, social security systems, and statutory requirements in the region.
- Experience processing payroll in-house, with attention to accuracy, deadlines, and compliance.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish, written and spoken.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving global environment.
- Experience working across functions such as Finance, Product, or Implementation is essential.
- Proficiency in payroll systems and tools, with a background in process improvement or automation a plus.
- Prior remote work experience is beneficial.
