This temporary, part-time Payroll and Benefits Coordinator role offers the opportunity to support core HR operations within a remote, employee-owned organization. Working 16–32 hours weekly during west coast business hours, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll and benefits administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll using Paylocity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Support weekly timesheet review and approval workflows
- Conduct data validation to identify and resolve inconsistencies, progressively building expertise in complex payroll issue resolution
- Assist with monthly benefit reporting for finance, including invoice review and cost allocation verification
- Maintain accurate digital records and uphold data integrity across HR systems
- Reconcile payroll outputs and prepare post-payroll documentation
- Support HR initiatives such as audits, compliance renewals, and special projects
- Contribute suggestions for improving existing processes and workflows
Qualifications
Candidates must bring at least one year of direct experience in payroll and benefits administration, with specific familiarity in Washington state payroll requirements. Proficiency in Excel—including advanced functions like Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and SUMIFS—is essential for navigating large datasets efficiently. You should demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgment when handling confidential information, and solid problem-solving abilities.
Preferred candidates will have exposure to HRIS platforms such as Paylocity, ADP Workforce Now, or UKG. Experience with NetSuite is an added advantage. Familiarity with wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and employee benefits compliance is valuable. Certification through the American Payroll Association (CPP or FPC) is considered a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $25.00 to $30.00.
