Washington University in St. Louis is hiring a Patient Billing/Services Representative III for the Medicine Multispecialty Center at our West County MOB2 location. In this role, you will obtain insurance information, counsel patients on financial assistance, and assist in managing staff performance, schedules, training, and administrative operations.
What You'll Do
- Monitor staff performance to ensure quality care and compliance with practice standards.
- Ensure appointments are scheduled appropriately according to departmental procedures.
- Work with physicians to triage patient phone calls, tasks, and emails as needed.
- Assist in managing provider schedules, templates, and master schedules.
- Coordinate training, interoffice activities, schedules, and policy changes; serve as primary trainer for new procedures and staff.
- Coordinate staff vacations, schedules, and coverage.
- Assist with staff timesheets and the distribution of accruals.
- Plan, schedule, and carry out orientation and training programs for personnel.
- Coordinate ordering and monitoring of supplies, equipment, and mail.
- Maintain required skills and participate in in-services, continuing education, and cross-training.
- Comply with OSHA, state, and federal regulatory standards.
- Act as backup for staff during peak times, vacations, and illnesses.
- Prepare custom reports as directed by management.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Incorporate the Fish Philosophy and Principles into daily job activities.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
- Basic Life Support certification obtained within one month of hire.
- 4 years of experience with billing systems, third-party claims, and/or a medical office setting with related customer service.
