The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is hiring a Patient Access Specialist to support organizational excellence in patient experience, operational efficiency, and revenue cycle performance. This frontline role executes critical pre-service activities to ensure scheduled appointments are accurately prepared within the electronic health record.
What You'll Do
- Analyze and reconcile the Daily Appointment Report (DAR) to ensure all scheduled appointments are accurately reflected in the EHR.
- Complete pre-service activities including insurance verification, referral authorization, documentation upload, and pre-registration.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert on Government Payors and validate pre-appointment requirements.
- Resolve patient access-related items within billing work queues, including registration inaccuracies, insurance verification issues, and demographic corrections.
- Provide operational support by ensuring desk coverage as needed and serving as a subject-matter expert.
- Float to various clinics, including Jones Eye Institute, Cardiovascular, Internal Medicine, Primary Care, Specialty Clinics, and Cancer Institute.
What We're Looking For
- High School/GED plus 4 years of experience in customer service, call center, business office administration, registration, billing, insurance, or scheduling.
- OR Associate degree plus 2 years of experience in customer service, call center, business office administration, registration, billing, or scheduling.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Three (3) years of experience in patient registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare environment.
- CHAA certification.
