About the Role

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator II to join the Nephrology team at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH). In this role, you will create the first impression of AHN’s services by managing key patient access processes, including scheduling, pre-registration, financial clearance, and insurance authorization. You will articulate information clearly so patients understand their appointments and financial responsibilities, while assuming clinical and financial risk for the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct scheduling and pre-registration, validate patient demographic data, and verify medical benefits and plan codes.
  • Obtain limited clinical data based on required services and update information to ensure accurate, timely billing.
  • Verify insurance information through payor contacts via phone, online resources, or electronic systems.
  • Identify payor authorization and referral requirements, providing documentation and follow-up for any deficiencies.
  • Calculate patient financial responsibilities, collect payments, and post payment transactions.
  • Identify self-pay accounts and complex liabilities, escalating to Financial Counselors as needed.
  • Deliver a positive patient experience and maintain excellent relationships with patients, AHN staff, physicians, and external agencies.
  • Maintain focus on productivity standards and recommend new approaches for enhancing performance.
  • Adhere to AHN organizational policies, complete mandatory training, and assist with team operational support and training.
  • Communicate team barriers or process issues to leadership and perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related healthcare Revenue Cycle experience, preferably within financial clearance.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience operating a PC and using software applications.

Nice to Have

  • An Associates degree.
  • Three (3) years of related experience.
  • Call center experience.

Work Mode

This is a full-time, onsite position located at AGH (Allegheny General Hospital).
