Clarivate is hiring a Patent Classification Specialist - Computer Science

About the Role

Clarivate is looking for a Patent Classification Specialist with a Computer Science background. In this role, you'll be responsible for determining appropriate patent classifications using CPC and USPC systems through your technical knowledge, research, and automated tools. You'll master the classification process and expand your expertise into new technologies as part of our Patent Search and Innovation Intelligence Services Team.

What You'll Do

  • Master the patent classification process
  • Assign classifications in accordance with the Cooperative Patent Classification rules and definitions
  • Classify applications related to specific technologies
  • Continually expand knowledge and expertise into new technologies
  • Work closely with others in a team environment

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Experience and/or significant course work in: Network Security, Cryptography, Database Structure and Management, Machine Learning, Data Modeling, Data Storage/Interfaces, Electrical Communications, Image Recognition/Processing, Medical/Business/Fintech Informatics, Video Encoding/Decoding, Virtual Reality, Virtual Machines, Cloud Computing
  • At least 6 months of work experience with research via work, internships or volunteering
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Applicants must have resided in the U.S. for the past two consecutive years
  • Ability to use computer systems to perform research and classification operations
  • Ability to work independently to meet defined production and quality standards

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with intellectual property (highly desirable)
  • Experience with circuits, electronics, electrical systems
  • Ability to work independently, without excessive supervision

You'll join the Patent Search and Innovation Intelligence Services Team, operating in a friendly, relaxed, and team-oriented environment with dynamic and engaged co-workers.

Work Mode

This is a hybrid position open to candidates in Ann Arbor, Alexandria, Philadelphia, Kansas City, or Temp.
