About the Role
This role involves performing in-home pet euthanasia and providing emotional support to pet owners during end-of-life transitions. The veterinarian will travel to clients' homes and ensure peaceful, dignified experiences for pets and their families.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-home euthanasia procedures with compassion and professionalism
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with grieving pet owners
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
- Provide guidance on aftercare options including cremation and memorialization
- Travel independently to client residences within the Killeen area
- Follow established protocols for medication administration and safety
- Uphold ethical standards in end-of-life care
- Coordinate appointment schedules with the care team
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and scheduling needs
- Ensure proper handling of medications and medical supplies
- Support clients through the decision-making process for pet hospice care
- Educate families on signs of declining health in pets
- Maintain a calm and respectful presence during home visits
- Adhere to state veterinary regulations and licensing requirements
- Participate in ongoing training related to palliative and end-of-life care
- Promote a dignified and peaceful experience for pets at life's end
- Manage sensitive situations with cultural awareness and empathy
- Use mobile technology to update records and confirm visits
- Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent service quality
