The Criminal Justice Research Center (CJRC) within Penn State’s Department of Sociology and Criminology is hiring a Part-Time Undergraduate Research Assistant. You will support collaborative research with the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing, gaining hands-on experience in social science research methodology.
What You'll Do
- Complete all required Penn State IRB Human Subjects Training
- Maintain strict data confidentiality
- Complete assigned tasks within established deadlines
- Attend periodic check-in meetings, online or in-person
- Assist with data entry and transcription
- Conduct literature searches
- Assist with data analysis
- Assist with report writing
What We're Looking For
- Must be a full-time Penn State undergraduate student
- Available to work at least 5 hours per week during the spring semester 2026
- Ability to attend meetings regularly
- Detail-oriented and responsible work style
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Team & Environment
You will be supervised by a CJRC post-doctoral researcher.

This position operates on a hybrid work model.
