Penn State is hiring a Part-Time Assistant for Research on Plant Chemical and Morphological Traits - López-Uribe Lab

About the Role

Penn State’s López-Uribe Lab is hiring a Part-Time Assistant to support research focused on plant chemical and morphological traits. You'll contribute to developing and implementing methods for greenhouse experiments, primarily working with Brassica plants.

What You'll Do

  • Modify existing biochemical protocols from the literature for measuring traits on Brassica plants.
  • Test and troubleshoot biochemical protocols.
  • Collect biochemical and morphological trait data, including seed oil content, volatiles, and floral morphology.
  • Assist with growing and managing plants in growth chambers for an experimental evolution study.
  • Help develop methods for conducting bumble bee pollination treatments on Brassica plants.
  • Assist with data curation, data analysis, and drafting a peer-reviewed paper.

What We're Looking For

  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Extensive experience in successfully collecting research data from a wide variety of biochemical assays.
  • Proven skills for learning new lab techniques and troubleshooting lab protocols.

Team & Environment

You will primarily work with the postdoctoral researcher leading the research, with supervision and direction also from Margarita López-Uribe.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position located in the López-Uribe Lab at the Agricultural Sciences and Industries Building on Penn State’s University Park campus.
