Penn State’s López-Uribe Lab is hiring a Part-Time Assistant to support research focused on plant chemical and morphological traits. You'll contribute to developing and implementing methods for greenhouse experiments, primarily working with Brassica plants.
What You'll Do
- Modify existing biochemical protocols from the literature for measuring traits on Brassica plants.
- Test and troubleshoot biochemical protocols.
- Collect biochemical and morphological trait data, including seed oil content, volatiles, and floral morphology.
- Assist with growing and managing plants in growth chambers for an experimental evolution study.
- Help develop methods for conducting bumble bee pollination treatments on Brassica plants.
- Assist with data curation, data analysis, and drafting a peer-reviewed paper.
What We're Looking For
- Great organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Extensive experience in successfully collecting research data from a wide variety of biochemical assays.
- Proven skills for learning new lab techniques and troubleshooting lab protocols.
Team & Environment
You will primarily work with the postdoctoral researcher leading the research, with supervision and direction also from Margarita López-Uribe.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located in the López-Uribe Lab at the Agricultural Sciences and Industries Building on Penn State’s University Park campus.
