First American is hiring a Paralegal to provide crucial support to our Corporate Underwriting Department and leadership nationwide. In this remote role, you will be instrumental in creating underwriting policies, analyzing legislation, and engaging in regulatory compliance processes.

What You'll Do

• Draft and edit national and state-level underwriting communications.
• Track, monitor, and analyze legislative activity in all 50 states related to real estate.
• Provide underwriting leadership with recommendations on pending legislation.
• Draft and edit policy manuals, rate manuals, and similar documents for regulatory filing.
• Guide local underwriting leadership regarding form and rate manuals.
• Review and assess court decisions affecting real estate conveyance and mortgaging.
• Collect and collate legal research from a wide variety of sources.
• Perform research and analysis on data for various business issues.
• Compile data from legal digests, encyclopedias, and practice manuals.
• Assist with developing and coordinating state-level advocacy strategies.
• Assemble, proof, and edit drafts of communications, strategies, and presentations.
• Draft documents for rate and form filings and provide guidance on these matters.
• Provide additional administrative support to the underwriting department.

What We're Looking For

• 3–5 years of professional experience as a Paralegal.
• Outstanding writing and editing skills.
• Intermediate Excel proficiency.
• Ability to adapt to new technology tools for collaboration and information sharing.
• General knowledge of the legislative process.
• Strong research and summarization skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent time management.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Nice to Have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Completion of a paralegal program.
• Paralegal certification.

• Hourly compensation: $30.08 - $41.78.
