This is a full-time, twelve-month lecturer position within a higher education institution’s Physician Assistant program, focused on integrating academic instruction with clinical coordination. The successful candidate will play a key role in teaching undergraduate and graduate-level students, guiding curriculum design, and supporting ongoing program accreditation through assessment and documentation.
Teaching and Academic Responsibilities
The position involves direct classroom instruction, student evaluation, and formal advising for a designated cohort of PA students. The coordinator collaborates with academic leadership to prepare self-study reports and materials required for accreditation reviews. Participation in program-level meetings, admissions, recruitment, and graduation activities is expected.
Clinical and Professional Engagement
To maintain clinical proficiency, the individual will engage in hands-on practice or clinical observation at approved healthcare settings, subject to coordination with program leadership. They will also serve as a bridge between the academic program and local medical providers, fostering relationships within the PA and broader healthcare community.
Service and Development
The role includes serving on college and institutional committees, contributing to interprofessional education initiatives, and participating in professional organizations at local, regional, or national levels. Continuous involvement in curriculum assessment and accreditation-related projects is required.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited PA program, or possession of an MD or DO degree
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience in a medical setting
- Current professional certification and eligibility for New York State licensure
- Experience in either clinical instruction or academic medical education
