Responsibilities
- Create plans for aerial, underground, and conduit-based copper and fiber networks
- Produce and evaluate technical drawings, loop loss analyses, and service area layouts
- Perform on-site assessments of poles, conduits, and subsurface infrastructure to inform design decisions
- Establish project cost estimates, track expenditures, and conduct site inspections to verify work quality
- Assemble and file permit applications with local, state, and regulatory bodies including townships, railroads, and environmental agencies
- Verify that all infrastructure designs comply with applicable codes and engineering requirements
- Engage with public officials to align network projects with municipal construction initiatives; travel is required and mileage is reimbursed
- Coordinate with utility partners to manage relocations and prevent scheduling conflicts
- Support service delivery, neighborhood developments, roadway adjustments, and multi-dwelling fiber deployments
- Maintain accurate records in engineering systems such as FROGS (CAD), Varasset, and SiteTracker
- Manage relationships with third-party contractors to ensure projects finish on time and within budget
- Assist with pole readiness and shared-use agreements for company-owned infrastructure
- Conduct field surveys, aid in regulatory investigations, and initiate capital improvement projects
- Respond to damage reports, cable reconfigurations, and service-related network adjustments
- Keep project records current, update engineering databases, and manage department paperwork
- Prepare written communications, technical reports, and engineering documentation
