About the Role
The OSP Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed outside plant designs, performing field surveys, and supporting construction activities. This role ensures network builds meet technical standards and project timelines.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed outside plant network designs for fiber and conduit systems
- Conduct field surveys to verify existing conditions and identify new routes
- Produce accurate as-built documentation following project completion
- Collaborate with project managers and construction crews to resolve design issues
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations
- Use GIS and CAD software to create and update network maps
- Support permitting efforts by providing technical drawings and data
- Evaluate pole and conduit availability for new installations
- Coordinate with utility companies and public agencies for easements
- Perform quality checks on construction work to match design specifications
- Assist in material takeoffs and cost estimations for network builds
- Maintain accurate records of design changes and field updates
- Troubleshoot design conflicts during construction phases
- Provide technical guidance to field personnel when needed
- Review engineering standards and recommend updates when necessary
Nice to Have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with OSP design software such as FastTrack or ArcGIS
- Background in telecommunications or utility infrastructure
- Understanding of civil and structural considerations in OSP builds
- Prior work with large-scale fiber deployment projects

On-site, field-based position with travel across service areas

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain
- Frequent bending, climbing, and lifting up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Travel Expectations
- Regular travel within the service territory is required
- Field assignments may involve day trips or extended site visits
