Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive outside plant engineering activities such as cost estimation, analysis, design, and planning for copper and fiber optic networks in aerial, buried, and conduit configurations.
- Create engineering plans for pole placements, conduit pathways, and subsurface facilities according to internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Generate and interpret engineering schematics, technical drawings, loop loss calculations, and project reports.
- Design and assist with network systems including fiber-to-the-home, digital subscriber line, metropolitan Ethernet, SONET, and other telecommunications transport solutions.
- Monitor project expenditures and compare projected costs with actual spending to maintain financial accountability.
- Collect field data, conduct measurements, and perform site inspections to inform engineering designs and construction strategies.
- Assemble and submit permit applications to local authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Organize and maintain project records, including property documentation and engineering reports.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and on-site inspections to verify design accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Work with engineering groups, local governments, retail and wholesale partners, and other stakeholders to execute projects effectively.
- Produce engineering work orders for standard and complex outside plant initiatives, including relocations due to road modifications.
- Offer technical expertise on the installation and operation of network infrastructure equipment.

Must possess field engineering equipment such as a measuring wheel, height stick, pull finder, and laptop.
