Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive outside plant engineering duties involving cost estimation, analysis, design, and planning for copper and fiber optic networks in aerial, underground, and conduit configurations.
- Create engineering layouts for pole placements, conduit pathways, and subsurface facilities following internal standards and regulatory codes.
- Generate and interpret technical engineering drawings, loop loss schematics, and project reports.
- Design and assist with network systems utilizing FTTH, DSL, Metro-E, SONET, and other telecommunications transmission methods.
- Monitor project expenditures and evaluate estimated costs against actuals to maintain financial accountability.
- Collect field data, conduct site measurements, and perform inspections to inform engineering plans and construction strategies.
- Assemble and submit permit documentation to local authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Organize and preserve project records, including property documents and engineering analyses.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and on-site inspections to verify design accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with engineering groups, local governments, retail and wholesale partners, and other stakeholders to advance project execution.
- Produce engineering work orders for standard and complex outside plant initiatives, including relocations due to road modifications.
- Offer technical expertise related to the installation and operational performance of network hardware.
