Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive outside plant engineering activities involving estimation, analysis, design, and planning for copper and fiber optic networks in aerial, underground, and conduit configurations.
- Create engineering plans for pole placements, conduit pathways, and subsurface facilities following internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Generate and interpret engineering schematics, technical drawings, loop loss calculations, and project reports.
- Design and assist with telecom network systems such as FTTH, DSL, Metro-E, SONET, and other transmission technologies.
- Monitor project expenditures and compare projected costs to actual spending to maintain financial accountability.
- Collect field data, conduct site measurements, and perform inspections to inform engineering and construction plans.
- Assemble and submit permit applications to local authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Keep accurate records of project documentation, property data, and engineering assessments.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and on-site inspections to verify design precision and regulatory compliance.
- Work with engineering groups, local governments, service providers, and other parties to facilitate project execution.
- Produce detailed work orders for standard and complex outside plant projects, including relocations due to road modifications.
- Offer technical expertise on the installation and operation of network infrastructure components.
