About the Role

NEC Software Solutions (NECSWS) is hiring an Oracle & SQL Server Database Administrator to join a team delivering critical database and application services to our Local Government, Health, and Digital clients. You will be responsible for providing a high-quality Incident, Change, and Problem Management service for a large portfolio of hosted services.

What You'll Do

  • Provide database and application administration and support as required.
  • Manage Oracle, SQL Server, and Postgres databases, including setup, performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
  • Administer applications, providing upgrades and support services.
  • Produce standard documentation and operational procedures.
  • Conduct problem management to identify and eliminate repeat incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with all NEC quality standards.
  • Be available for an on-call structure, covering out-of-hours and some weekend work (standby 1 week in every 4).

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle 19c+ and SQL Server 2019+ administration, upgrades, and performance tuning.
  • Proven ability to provide application services, upgrades, and administration.
  • A solid understanding of platform technology.
  • Eligibility for NPPV and Security Clearance.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills.
  • An analytical, organised, flexible, and adaptable mindset focused on providing excellent service.
  • Good communication and client-facing customer service skills.
  • Stress tolerance and self-motivation.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Postgres 11+.
  • Oracle, SQL Server, or Postgres professional accreditation.
  • Skills in UNIX scripting.
  • ITIL Practitioner certification.
  • Technical awareness of technologies outside your immediate remit.
  • Familiarity with local government back-office applications.

You will be part of a team responsible for providing Database and Application services, managing associated third parties, and supporting a wide variety of clients.
