Responsibilities
- Establish and manage new orders involving time-critical shipments to ensure successful execution
- Proactively communicate updates to clients regarding any changes or disruptions
- Monitor order progress from initiation through completion
- Perform all duties outlined in the Operations Specialist II position description
- Independently resolve escalated issues using available tools and resources with little or no supervision
- Support team members by helping resolve their escalated issues and answering operational questions
- Analyze order profitability by understanding the difference between margin and total cost, and use this insight when approving additional charges
- Serve as a subject matter expert on international shipping regulations, import controls, and export requirements
- Evaluate strategic customer decisions that balance service levels with profitability
- Weigh trade-offs between speed, cost, and customer impact without relying on escalation
- Select carriers based on service agreements that ensure faster offloads and fewer failures, even if not the fastest or lowest-cost option
- Align service quality and cost with customer margin expectations
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy with minimal errors or service disruptions
- Make sound, informed decisions under stressful conditions
- Identify potential issues in advance and take preventive action
- Hold a valid Dangerous Goods Certification
- Stay current on all dangerous goods regulations and comply with internal policies
- Support team members handling orders flagged for dangerous goods compliance
- Develop understanding of processes across other operational sectors
- Collaborate with leadership to provide guidance on standard operating procedures
- Model expected behaviors and uphold team standards through consistent performance
Compensation
£50,000 - £55,000 annual salary
