Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) is hiring an Operating Engineer responsible for maintaining and operating all equipment to provide site utilities for a large commercial building and its dedicated Data Center and Lab environments. You'll be crucial in ensuring ongoing facility operations through preventive and repair work.
What You'll Do
- Perform ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems.
- Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior, and related grounds.
- Work in and around raised floor environments and white space dedicated to Data Center and Labs.
- Become proficient with building automation systems, fire/life safety systems, and other building-related equipment.
- Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on conditions impacting client operations.
- Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary and comply with all safety procedures.
- Update work order status in real time and utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo.
- Escalate problems to the Customer and Manager in a timely manner.
- Attend required work and safety meetings.
- Be available for after-hours and weekend work.
- Maintain logs, collect readings, and perform rounds on equipment.
- Maintain tools and order supplies as required for installation and repairs.
- Document equipment repairs, close work orders, track time accurately, and communicate with the Operations Manager and Chief Engineer.
- Comply with policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or state equivalent.
- Experience working in Data Centers/Raised Floor Environment.
- Universal EPA / CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment).
- Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering with a strong background in packaged HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and White Space operations.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
- Strong Customer Service skills.
- Ability to frequently climb, bend, lift, kneel, stoop, and work/extend overhead.
- Ability to climb a ladder up to 30 feet and work from heights.
- Must be available for Call-in work and perform other duties as required.
Nice to Have
- Familiar with computer equipment and programs.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes.
- Prior knowledge of working within a Data Center environment.
- Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing or other craft skills.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
