GeeksOnSite is looking for an On-call IT and TV Field Technician to provide on-site technical support to residential and small business customers. In this independent contractor role, you will diagnose and resolve a variety of hardware and software issues directly at customer locations.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues on Windows and macOS systems.
- Resolve boot errors, OS issues, and login problems.
- Set up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired internet connections.
- Replace or upgrade hardware components like HDD, RAM, and cooling fans.
- Configure or connect printers and scanners from brands like Canon, HP, and Brother.
- Address common printer error codes related to ink absorbers, paper feed, and connectivity.
- Perform general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs).
- Reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media.
- Install remote tools or shortcuts as requested by customers.
- Communicate clearly with customers and provide basic post-service support.
- Document service visits thoroughly and escalate complex issues as needed.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of field IT support experience, including work on computers and printers.
- Familiarity with common printer brands like Canon and HP.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting error codes, such as Canon code 1700, boot issues, and driver conflicts.
- Experience troubleshooting both Windows (10/11) and macOS.
- Must have personal tools, including a bootable USB and a screwdriver set.
- A reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license.
- A smartphone with camera and data plan for documentation and communication.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a professional demeanor with customers.
