Cape Cod Healthcare is hiring a Nurse Manager to lead the overall operation of an assigned nursing unit. You will ensure compliance with policies and standards while serving as a clinical resource and leader responsible for staff, budgeting, patient care quality, and regulatory adherence.
What You'll Do
- Manage the overall operation of your assigned unit, ensuring all policies, systems, procedures, and standards are effectively communicated to staff across all shifts.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and commit to our culture of continuous improvement.
- Maintain current knowledge of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory standards for your unit.
- Interview, select, orient, schedule, and assign unit personnel, conducting performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Recommend staffing levels, participate in preparing unit operating and capital budgets, and maintain expenditures within allocated funds.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of patients and the health and safety of employees, including orientation to emergency and infection control procedures.
- Promote open communication within the unit and with other departments, planning and conducting unit staff meetings.
- Supervise nursing activities related to patient care and set standards for accurate reporting and recording of patient symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Serve as a clinical resource, assisting nursing personnel in assessing patient and family status to plan nursing care, and act as a patient advocate.
- Interpret philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for personnel, patients, and the public, and provide for the professional growth of nursing staff.
- Serve as a resource to other units, participate on committees, and foster good public relations, assuming the role of manager on designated weekends and holidays.
What We're Looking For
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (must be obtained within 30 days of position start).
- A minimum of three years of experience in hospital nursing, with demonstrated progression in responsibilities.
- Completion of an approved De-escalation Certification Course (must be obtained within 90 days of position start).
Nice to Have
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
