As a Nuclear Safety Engineer, you will contribute to the safe and sustainable advancement of nuclear technology across a range of high-impact sectors. Your work will directly support low-carbon energy goals by evaluating hazards, developing robust safety justifications, and guiding strategic decisions for nuclear sites throughout their lifecycle—from design and construction to operation and decommissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive hazard analyses for nuclear installations and systems
- Develop and maintain detailed safety cases to meet regulatory and operational requirements
- Engage with clients and regulators to support licensing processes and technical compliance
- Present technical findings and safety strategies to stakeholders, including government and oversight bodies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges
- Support project delivery by integrating safety principles into design and operational planning
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and technical excellence within the engineering community
- Mentor early-career engineers and help strengthen team capabilities
- Help expand technical service offerings by identifying opportunities in key markets
What You Bring
You have experience in safety-critical environments and a strong attention to detail. You are comfortable managing complex technical information while maintaining a clear view of strategic objectives. Your communication skills allow you to present solutions effectively to diverse audiences, and you are committed to delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.
Preference will be given to candidates with prior involvement in nuclear generation, defence nuclear programmes, new build projects, or emerging technologies such as fusion and small modular reactors. Experience with regulatory frameworks or licensing processes is highly valued.
