Responsibilities
- Carry out a wide variety of diagnostic imaging tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
- Perform and record routine quality assurance checks on imaging devices
- Evaluate physician requests for medical relevance and appropriateness
- Ready patients for procedures and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely
- Place intravenous catheters when necessary
- Capture and process images using gamma cameras, PACS, and nuclear medicine software systems
- Detect and resolve technical or clinical problems as they occur
- Calculate, prepare, and request appropriate radiopharmaceutical dosages
- Handle Tc99m kits and manage bulk radiopharmacy inventory
- Follow sterile methods and meet quality control standards for all radiopharmaceutical preparations
- Supervise the procurement, receipt, distribution, and storage of radioactive materials and related waste
- Adhere fully to hospital policies, department protocols, and New York State regulations
- Collaborate with radiologists and referring clinicians on therapy planning
- Confirm pre-procedure requirements and documentation are complete
- Deliver therapeutic radiopharmaceutical doses following strict radiation safety guidelines
- Travel to multiple physician offices in New York and Pennsylvania using a mobile gamma camera system
- Transport, assemble, and operate portable imaging equipment safely
- Function independently in varied clinical environments while working alongside medical staff
- Provide sensitive, age-specific care for patients ranging from newborns to elderly individuals
- Emphasize patient safety, comfort, and clear communication during all procedures
- Take part in accreditation efforts and follow established departmental procedures
- Keep certifications current and fulfill continuing education requirements
- Attend mandatory annual trainings and professional growth opportunities
- Offer courteous, focused, and professional service to every patient
