Perform on-site evaluations of commercial properties to assess risk and identify potential safety or structural concerns. This independent contractor role requires direct engagement with property owners and operators to gather operational details, inspect building systems, and document conditions using digital photography and measurement tools.
What You'll Do
- Receive and review inspection assignments through a web-based platform
- Coordinate appointment times directly with property representatives via phone, email, or text
- Conduct thorough walkthroughs of commercial buildings, examining heating, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems
- Document findings with 20–35 interior and exterior photos and precise dimensional measurements
- Use digital sketching and reporting software to create accurate visual layouts and narratives
- Submit completed inspection packages electronically, including photos, notes, and system assessments
- Maintain clear communication about inspection progress through an online tracking system
Requirements
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Proven background in commercial property inspection services
- Completion of a recognized training program such as the VIITA Basic Commercial Line Inspector course or comparable certification
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in insurance loss control for commercial accounts
- Familiarity with property, general liability, and workers’ compensation risk assessment
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently without direct supervision
- Proficiency with online reporting platforms and digital documentation workflows
