About the Role

O'Reilly Technology Services, Inc. is hiring a Network Engineer II to evaluate intermediate network systems and recommend resources for scalability in multisite connectivity environments. You will support standards for low-latency networks in high-traffic retail and omnichannel settings and resolve intermediate network problems.

What You'll Do

  • Design and select medium-complexity storage, data center, network, and client/server environments aligned with industry best practices.
  • Provide a third-line point of escalation for appropriate global infrastructure solutions.
  • Deliver digital solution architecture services as assigned, preparing conceptual and logical architecture diagrams.
  • Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products and services.
  • Recommend technical developments to improve the quality of software and supporting infrastructure.
  • Design and perform software tests and respond to user communications to monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues.
  • Collect business requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis.
  • Explore and develop a basic understanding of external developments or emerging issues and evaluate their potential impact.
  • Implement required security measures and monitor performance to notify security experts of any problems.
  • Develop your own capabilities through assessment, planning, training, and coaching; maintain external professional accreditation.
  • Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of their effectiveness.
  • Provide fault isolation and resolution for complex challenges to limit and address issues promptly.
  • Conduct research using primary data sources and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
  • Support and contribute to the documentation of 'as is' and 'to be' processes and describe the changes required.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide flexible response to network outages or urgent incidents.

What We're Looking For

  • Ability to determine and analyze trends from data to assist in compiling reports for decision-making.
  • Experience designing, executing, and reporting on systems and service tests to ensure applications function as specified.
  • Ability to conduct gap analysis between current and future states to identify components of an overall change strategy.
  • Experience adopting solutions to automate and manage multiple applications and functions within an organization.
  • Experience managing and administering wide area networks (WANs).
  • Proficiency in navigating and managing cloud-based infrastructure, including virtual machines, networks, storage, and services.
  • Understanding of business context, needs, rules, and architecture, as well as organizational structure, cultures, capabilities, and processes.
  • Ability to develop an effective change strategy based on gap analyses and enterprise readiness assessment results.
  • Applies concepts of knowledge and skill without requiring supervision and can provide technical guidance when required.
  • Experience maintaining system and information security, integrity, compliance, and continuity.
  • Proficiency in using appropriate modeling tools to diagram requirements from data and state changes, process improvements, use cases, and user stories.
  • Proficiently use and troubleshoot a wide range of IT hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Ability to review and evaluate recommendations and requirements and develop appropriate plans or deliver actions required.
  • Ability to analyze and research customer and market conditions to develop a full understanding of the customer and its market.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience, with at least 2 years in multisite environments.

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in automation scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform) for multisite network provisioning.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional or equivalent certification.
