Responsibilities
- Develop a compelling storyline that elicits the intended emotional impact from players
- Manage narrative rhythm to sustain player engagement throughout the experience
- Define characters including their histories, personalities, and driving motivations
- Write scripts and dialogue for cutscenes, tutorials, and non-player character interactions
- Outline required narrative elements such as settings, characters, and props
- Create mission-related text including UI flavor text, NPC lines, and quest descriptions
- Support concept artists in developing storyboards by providing narrative direction
- Specify cinematic details including camera positioning, framing, and perspective
- Integrate creative direction feedback into narrative deliverables
- Revise storyboards based on team input and evolving design needs
- Partner with 2D and 3D artists to guide asset creation for cutscenes and instructional sequences
- Refine visual and environmental assets using feedback from design and creative leadership
- Liaise with voice actors, motion capture performers, and animators during cutscene production
- Ensure voice performances convey the intended emotional tone
- Work with animators to achieve the desired mood and pacing in scenes
- Coordinate with level and game designers to integrate cutscenes into quests and missions
- Conduct team playtesting of missions, quests, and tutorials after implementation
- Improve cutscenes, dialogues, and tutorials using feedback gathered during testing
