General Motors is hiring a Motors Holding Regional Portfolio Manager

About the Role

General Motors is looking for a Motors Holding Regional Portfolio Manager, a key field-facing leader within our Sales Operations organization. You will provide a path for qualified dealer candidates to acquire and eventually own GM dealerships through a structured investment program, acting as a liaison between sellers and approved candidates.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a financial and operational subject matter expert for dealer candidates, Motors Holding dealers, and GM field teams.
  • Lead and execute all dealership pre-investment due diligence, including developing operational forecasts, evaluating investment frameworks, aligning candidates with opportunities, negotiating valuations and agreements, presenting proposals to leadership, and coordinating pre-closing activities.
  • Participate as an active Board of Directors member for Motors Holding dealer companies, offering strategic counsel and governance.
  • Build strong relationships with dealer operators, offering continued consultative guidance and performance monitoring.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Ability, willingness, and flexibility to relocate to support any of the 5 regions based on business need.
  • 8–10+ years of experience in the automotive industry.
  • 5+ years of direct experience working with or consulting to dealer principals and operator-owners.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability in business negotiation and forecasting.
  • Proven ability to multitask across complex, fast-paced projects.
  • Proven ability in analytical evaluation and strategic thinking.
  • Direct experience in mergers and acquisitions or buy-sell transactions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed for site visits and closings.

Nice to Have

  • Deep understanding of retail automotive dealership operations.
  • Experience in dealership network strategy or field operations.
  • Prior involvement in dealership transitions or start-up operations.

You will be a field-facing leader within General Motors’ Sales Operations organization, reporting to the MH Director and Investment Committee.
