TD Bank Group is hiring a Mortgage Loan Officer for our West Palm Beach, FL market. This role is part of our Personal & Commercial Banking line of business, where you will sell and originate residential mortgage loans to meet sales goals. You will be responsible for taking applications, offering loan terms, and guiding customers through the entire mortgage process.
What You'll Do
- Meet with prospects identified directly and referred by realtors, developers, attorneys, and other external and internal referral sources.
- Explain a variety of mortgage products and services available and offer recommendations based on evaluation of individual prospect needs.
- Guide customers through the mortgage application process and manage their expectations regarding processing times and closing dates.
- Sell and originate residential mortgage loans according to established policies, procedures, and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Generate referrals for mortgage sales opportunities and sales of other company business line products.
- Develop and execute a plan to achieve sales goals with assistance from sales management.
- Enter information into mortgage loan systems and create supporting files with documentation for underwriting and regulatory purposes.
- Submit application materials to underwriting and processing areas, communicate decisions to customers, and clear any conditions.
- Communicate regularly with customers, underwriters, processors, realtors, closing agents, and others to ensure the application process proceeds as planned.
- Attend closings as needed and participate in homebuyers' seminars, home shows, and other financing workshops.
- Develop knowledge of current industry practices, trends, and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure TD Bank maintains successful audits and exams within all areas.
- Deal with complex mortgage needs.
What We're Looking For
- Must be eligible for employment with a covered financial institution under the standards established by Regulation Z of the Truth in Lending Act (12 CFR Part 1026.36).
- Must be eligible for registration as a registered mortgage loan originator with the NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry) in accordance with the SAFE Act.
- Satisfactory results on a criminal background check and a credit report check.
- 2+ years of mortgage origination experience.
- Proven sales ability with a self-directed approach to plan activities and achieve sales goals.
- Developing knowledge of the mortgage industry, products, lending practices, and regulatory guidelines.
- Strong time management and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- PC skills, including the ability to learn mortgage origination and automated underwriting systems.

- Bachelor's degree or progressive work experience in addition to the required experience.
