As a Mortgage Loan Officer, you will play a key role in helping individuals secure financing for their homes. You'll work directly with clients to understand their financial goals, recommend appropriate mortgage solutions, and support them throughout the entire loan journey—from application to closing.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain relationships with both internal and external referral partners to expand mortgage business
- Use consultative techniques to assess client needs and recommend suitable loan products
- Guide applicants through the mortgage process, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to verify information and keep loan processing on track
- Nurture ongoing client relationships to support satisfaction and future business
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year of experience in mortgage loan origination, ideally within a banking environment
- Active NMLS license required
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing pipeline or established book of business
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Familiarity with various mortgage products including conventional loans, FHA/VA, construction financing, and portfolio programs
- Understanding of underwriting standards, loan documentation, and compliance procedures
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Proficiency with PC and internet-based systems
- Track record of identifying opportunities to connect clients with additional financial services
