Texas Online Preparatory School (TOPS), part of Stride, is hiring a Middle School Math Teacher to deliver high-quality, personalized math education online. As a state-certified educator, you will be responsible for providing instruction, support, and guidance, managing the learning process, and focusing on the individual needs of each student.
What You'll Do
- Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
- Commit to personalizing learning for all students and differentiate instruction based on student mastery.
- Augment course content using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools as per policy.
- Maintain the grade book, ensure academic integrity, and make student placement and promotion decisions.
- Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families, communicating with students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner.
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic technical troubleshooting.
- Travel as required (approximately 20% of the time or once per month on average) for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and school needs.
- Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system.
- Work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance each student’s learning toward established goals.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree.
- Active state teaching license.
- Ability to clear a required background check.
- Active Middle School 4-8 Generalist or 4-8 Math Certificate.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with the proposed age group.
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
- Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environment.
- Experience with online learning platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data to drive instructional decisions.
- Receptive to receiving regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
