Responsibilities
- Evaluating and admitting expectant mothers for prenatal and labor care
- Tracking the progression of labor and monitoring fetal health
- Carrying out instructions from obstetricians, including giving medications and performing diagnostic tasks
- Preparing individuals for medical procedures such as epidural placement
- Providing support and assistance during childbirth
- Delivering essential newborn care, including resuscitation and Apgar assessments
- Monitoring maternal and neonatal health after delivery
- Promoting and guiding breastfeeding efforts and offering patient education
- Working closely with healthcare professionals such as obstetricians and pediatricians
- Keeping detailed and up-to-date medical records
- Following protocols for infection prevention and maintaining patient safety
- Overseeing the handling and availability of medical equipment and supplies
