About the Role
The selected candidate will contribute to transportation engineering projects by performing analyses, preparing plans, and supporting senior staff in delivering solutions for public and private clients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct traffic impact studies for new developments
- Develop geometric designs for roadways and intersections
- Perform capacity and level-of-service evaluations
- Prepare construction drawings and technical specifications
- Support transportation planning efforts with data analysis
- Use traffic simulation software to model vehicle movements
- Assist in the development of safety improvement programs
- Gather field data including traffic counts and speed surveys
- Coordinate with local and state transportation agencies
- Review plans for compliance with design standards
- Participate in project scoping and client meetings
- Produce reports documenting study findings and recommendations
- Apply knowledge of MUTCD and DOT guidelines
- Support grant applications related to transportation projects
- Work on multi-jurisdictional infrastructure initiatives
- Utilize GIS for spatial analysis and mapping
- Contribute to sustainable transportation solutions
- Assist in developing alternative transportation strategies
- Maintain project documentation and records
- Collaborate with civil and environmental engineers
- Ensure designs meet accessibility requirements
- Review contractor submittals and shop drawings
- Support public outreach efforts for proposed projects
- Track project schedules and deliverables
- Apply engineering principles to real-world transportation challenges
Nice to Have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with roundabout design
- Background in active transportation planning
- Familiarity with Vissim or Cube software
- Knowledge of complete streets policies
- Experience with NEPA documentation
