About the Role
This position involves supporting transportation projects related to trails and roads, including planning, design, field work coordination, and client interaction. The engineer will work on multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct site assessments and field surveys for trail and road projects
- Develop engineering designs and construction drawings
- Prepare technical reports and project documentation
- Coordinate with survey and environmental teams
- Support permitting and regulatory compliance efforts
- Review project plans for adherence to engineering standards
- Assist in cost estimation and scheduling
- Engage with clients and stakeholders during project phases
- Perform calculations for grading, drainage, and structural elements
- Oversee construction administration tasks
- Apply civil engineering principles to transportation infrastructure
- Utilize CAD and GIS software for design development
- Ensure designs meet accessibility and safety guidelines
- Participate in project scoping and feasibility studies
- Collaborate with local agencies on jurisdictional requirements
- Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Conduct design reviews and peer checks
- Support sustainable and resilient infrastructure practices
- Prepare bid documents and contractor specifications
- Respond to field inquiries during construction
- Integrate public input into project planning
- Maintain project records and as-built documentation
- Use technical standards from DOT and AASHTO
- Apply knowledge of stormwater management systems
- Work under professional engineering supervision
