About the Role

This role focuses on developing state-of-the-art information retrieval models as part of the Search team, with responsibilities spanning training embedding and reranker models, advancing semantic search techniques, and integrating innovations into production systems to transform how people interact with search.

Responsibilities

  • Design, train, and refine next-generation search models to push the boundaries of retrieval performance.
  • Collect high-quality datasets for retrieval tasks and streamline data pipelines for efficient model training and evaluation.
  • Partner closely with model serving engineers to ensure fast, reliable inference performance.
  • Work with product teams to co-develop practical, scalable solutions for real-world applications.
  • Participate in research partnerships with academic and industry collaborators and publish findings in leading conferences and journals.
  • Join at a critical growth stage, help define technical direction, take ownership of projects, and adapt to evolving challenges.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, TF-Serving, JAX, or XLA/MLIR.
  • Knowledge of information retrieval techniques and hands-on experience training and applying retrieval models.
  • Experience integrating Large Language Models into training or evaluation workflows.
  • Excellent communication abilities and proven problem-solving skills in technical environments.

Nice to Have

  • Background in creating training or evaluation datasets for real-world retrieval use cases.
  • Programming skills in languages like C++ or Golang beyond Python.
  • Experience implementing large-scale distributed training systems using GPU clusters.
