The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a critical scientific bridge between Azurity Pharmaceuticals and the external medical community, focusing on the Central Nervous System (CNS) therapeutic area across the West region of the United States. This role is responsible for building and maintaining collaborative, non-promotional relationships with key healthcare professionals, including national and regional thought leaders, academic researchers, and community-based clinicians. The MSL provides scientific and clinical expertise through evidence-based exchanges, supports the dissemination of medical knowledge, and contributes to the development of clinical strategies. By gathering real-world insights and trends from the field, the MSL helps inform internal decision-making across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and Commercial teams. The role requires deep therapeutic expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to interpret and convey complex clinical data in a clear and compliant manner.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary scientific contact in the field for Medical Affairs within the assigned region
- Develop and sustain relationships with national and regional thought leaders in academic and community settings
- Identify and engage Key Opinion Leaders to foster long-term scientific collaborations
- Facilitate scientific dialogue around clinical data, treatment approaches, and emerging research
- Share accurate, balanced, and up-to-date clinical and therapeutic information with external stakeholders
- Promote informed discussions on disease states, treatment landscapes, and clinical evidence
- Gather, analyze, and report actionable insights on treatment trends, competitive dynamics, and investigator perspectives
- Provide internal teams with field-generated insights to guide strategic decisions
- Offer scientific support for company-led and investigator-initiated clinical trials
- Assist in trial site selection, feasibility assessments, patient enrollment discussions, and ongoing investigator communication
- Support education on adverse event management when relevant
- Respond to unsolicited medical information inquiries related to products and disease areas
- Represent Medical Affairs at scientific conferences, advisory boards, and expert meetings
- Summarize key scientific sessions and deliver actionable recommendations to internal stakeholders
- Support the planning and execution of advisory boards and scientific advisory meetings
- Deliver high-quality, compliant scientific presentations in individual and group settings
- Educate healthcare providers in diverse practice environments on relevant clinical topics
- Collaborate with Clinical Development, Operations, Commercial (within compliance guidelines), and alliance partners
- Serve as an internal scientific resource across departments
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of therapeutic areas, clinical data, and scientific literature
- Promote credible, professional scientific exchange in alignment with medical strategy
- Support internal training on scientific and clinical topics
- Contribute to the development of field-focused materials, tools, and initiatives
- Manage territory responsibilities with organization, professionalism, and strategic focus
Requirements
- Advanced terminal degree such as PharmD, PhD, MD, or DO, or equivalent advanced medical credential with at least two years of relevant clinical experience in the therapeutic area
- Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in clinical, research, or pharmaceutical industry roles
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 60%, including occasional weekends
- Ability to travel by car or air to various meeting locations
- Must live within the assigned territory or within a 30-minute commute of its nearest border
- Experience engaging with both academic and community healthcare settings
