Role Overview
This field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will serve a key scientific role across a multi-state region including San Jose, Portland, Seattle, Boise, Salt Lake City, Denver, Omaha, and Minneapolis. The position focuses on advancing scientific dialogue around molecular diagnostics in oncology, with an emphasis on next-generation sequencing (NGS) and minimal residual disease (MRD) testing. The MSL will engage with oncologists, pathologists, and key opinion leaders to support clinical understanding and promote evidence-based use of advanced diagnostic tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and sustain professional relationships with academic and community-based physicians, researchers, and healthcare organizations
- Lead educational initiatives through tumor boards, advisory meetings, webinars, and scientific symposia
- Deliver in-person and virtual presentations to external stakeholders and internal departments
- Share updates on emerging research, clinical guidelines, and relevant scientific literature
- Support clinical teams with responses to complex assay and reporting inquiries
- Collaborate across departments including sales, marketing, client services, and managed care
- Contribute to training materials for clinical and sales staff and other MSLs
- Monitor market trends and provide insights to inform medical strategy
- Represent the organization at major conferences and industry events
- Support initiatives to retain and expand NGS and MRD testing services
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory expectations
Qualifications
Candidates must hold an advanced degree in a scientific or medical field—such as PhD, PharmD, MD, or GC with hematology/oncology focus. A minimum of five years of direct MSL experience is required, with demonstrated expertise in oncology, molecular biomarkers, and diagnostic testing workflows. Experience with NGS and MRD platforms is essential.
The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator who can translate complex data into actionable insights for diverse audiences. Proficiency in scientific presentation, data interpretation using Microsoft Excel, and independent learning is expected. The role demands strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
Work Environment
