About the Role

Parexel is hiring a Medical Director - Ophthalmology to join our Global Medical Sciences team. In this role, you will leverage your clinical expertise to build medical relationships with clients, consult on early-stage engagements, and provide essential medical monitoring for contracted projects, with potential for leadership responsibilities.

What You'll Do

  • Initiate and maintain medical and consultative relationships with clients.
  • Consult on early engagement and pre-award efforts.
  • Serve as a medical monitor for contracted projects, delivering all medical support required for successful project delivery.
  • Provide high-quality consultation on protocol development or drug development programs.
  • Perform medical review of various documents.
  • Collaborate on internal therapeutic area meetings, training module development, white papers, slide sets, and publications.
  • Solicit and address client feedback and suggestions regarding medical study-related activities.
  • Provide medical expertise and leadership in Proposal Development Teams (PDTs) for client bid pursuit meetings.
  • May take on leadership roles by participating in initiatives, mentoring junior MDs, and/or managing a team of physicians.

What We're Looking For

  • US Board certified in Ophthalmology or Canadian equivalent.
  • Experience as a Physician in Industry or as a clinical trial investigator.
  • Medically qualified from an acknowledged medical school with completion of at least basic training in clinical medicine (residency, internship).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach.
  • Excellent time management and verbal/written medical communication skills.
  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English.
  • A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning.
  • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work in a matrix environment and value the importance of teamwork.
  • The ability to travel 15% domestically or internationally.

Nice to Have

  • A background in clinical aspects of drug development, including all aspects of Medical Monitoring and study design/execution.
  • Good knowledge of the drug development process including drug safety.
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical Medicine.
  • Experience leading, mentoring and managing individuals or a team.
  • Previous CRO experience.

This is a global role open to candidates based in the US or Canada.
