EviCore, part of Evernorth Health Services and The Cigna Group, is seeking a Medical Director to leverage clinical expertise in a remote capacity. In this role, you will provide specialized, evidence-based medical reviews to guide patient care, focusing on medical necessity and collaborating directly with healthcare providers.
What You'll Do
- Complete time-sensitive, evidence-based medical case reviews for medical necessity using proprietary case management software.
- Conduct physician consultation (peer-to-peer) calls with referring providers to discuss the appropriateness of requested services or treatments.
- Recommend alternative services or treatments based on clinical evidence and expertise.
- Collaborate with over 500 EviCore physician colleagues to ensure patients receive proper care through evidence-based decision making.
What We're Looking For
- M.D. or D.O. with a current, active, U.S. state medical license.
- Board certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine (ABMS or AOA).
- Eligibility to acquire additional state licensure as required.
- 3 years of relevant clinical experience post residency/fellowship.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws.
- Ability to commit to a set, weekly schedule (Monday through Friday).
- Strong computer skills and ability to work autonomously with automated processes and systems.
- Meet physical demands including typing, speaking, and listening 100% of the time.
- Must have a cable broadband or fiber optic internet connection (10Mbps download/5Mbps upload minimum).
- A company-provided encrypted workstation must be hard-wired to a modem or router; wireless is not permitted.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) standards.
