Quest National Services is hiring an entry-level Front Desk Medical Billing Patient Advocate to join our team. In this role, you will be a central point of contact, handling insurance claims, patient communication, and essential office administration within our medical billing and coding company. What You'll Do
- Answer telephones and handle a high volume of inbound and outbound calls (approximately 70% of the day).
- Respond to and send faxes and emails, and manage incoming and outgoing mail.
- Schedule patient visits, assist with facility questions, and receive patient payments.
- Record payments in a database, provide receipts, and update financial information to obtain revenue.
- File, collect, and expedite third-party insurance claims.
- Work within multiple EMR platforms, insurance clearinghouses, and payor portals.
- Enter patient history, diagnostic procedures, and treatment data into computer systems.
- Compile, abstract, and maintain patient medical records, reviewing them for completeness and compliance.
- Maintain business office inventory and equipment.
- Protect patient rights by maintaining strict confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Perform other administrative tasks as needed.
What We're Looking For
- A certificate for medical billing and/or coding.
- A customer service background in hospitality, retail, call center, or a similar field.
- Tech-savvy with the ability to navigate software and pick up training quickly.
- Must have worked with EMR software or be exceptionally willing and able to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word, and strong general computer and typing skills.
- Comfortable and articulate speaking on the phone with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, balance numerous priorities, and maintain excellent organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach.
- Must be dependable, responsible, able to work independently with effective time management, and looking for a career.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm, professional, and handling stress.
- A positive, friendly, and approachable disposition with a strong customer service orientation.
- Must maintain HIPAA standards.
- Physical requirements: ability to wear a telephone headset for most of the day, use a landline or PC-based phone, verbally speak without accommodations, view computer screens for the full shift, read small print, and work with standard office equipment.
Nice to Have
- 2 years of experience in a front desk medical office position.
- 2-4 years of college, a customer service background, or completion of (or current enrollment in) medical billing coursework.
- Anatomy and medical terminology knowledge.
- Experience with taking phone calls, scheduling appointments, and taking patient payments.
- Experience calling payers for claim status.
- Knowledge and experience in Insurance Verification and Authorizations.
