Stanford Health Care is hiring a Patient Care Coordinator II (Medical Assistant) to join our Oncology Infusion teams. This role serves as a foundational position to develop essential clinical skills and facilitate smooth day-to-day operations within our oncology care delivery teams, applying established policies and procedures to complete patient care assignments.
What You'll Do
- Perform patient care duties, including measuring vital signs, weight, and height, rooming patients, drawing labs, and assisting providers with medication reconciliation.
- Handle check-in/check-out processes, virtual rooming for providers, vaccine administration, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection.
- Manage clinic preparation, area stocking, medication and supply ordering, and ensure timely completion of work assignments.
- Complete disability paperwork, maintain temperature logs, follow assigned protocols, and ensure workplace safety and infection prevention.
- Handle patient phone calls, prescription refills, and clinic support operations.
- Manage CRM/In-Basket communications, serving as a liaison between providers, patients, and staff.
- Undertake work in assigned areas to develop necessary expertise within the oncology specialty.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent AND one of the following: a certificate/transcript from a medical assisting program, completion of training by a licensed physician/podiatrist, or Medical Board of California-approved certification.
- At least one year of overall relevant experience.
- Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of medical terminology, coding and billing regulations, and computer systems used in a functional area.
- Ability to solve problems, demonstrate customer service skills in high-stress situations, and work independently as part of a team.
- Strong business communication skills, including clear writing for clinical reports.
- Familiarity with home health, practice care coordination, and clinical care skills.
- Ability to learn and adapt clinical knowledge regularly and understand population health concepts.
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly compensation generally starts in the range of $33.22 - $37.39 per hour.
Work Mode
This position is onsite at our Stanford Health Care facilities in Pleasanton, Castro Valley, or Emeryville.
