The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks a Medical Assistant to join the CVSL Healthy Heart Clinic team. In this role, you will provide essential support in the examination and treatment of patients, combining clinical duties with administrative coordination to deliver high-quality care.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under direct supervision.
- Conduct patient interviews and measure vital signs including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Record patient information on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
- Perform administrative tasks including registering and scheduling patients for appointments and procedures.
- Schedule and coordinate appointments, surgeries, or tests using hospital systems.
- Conduct pre-registration, input/update patient information, process walk-ins, create new patient charts, and access systems for orders.
- Conduct insurance verification and benefits explanation, run eligibility on patients, and request/gather outside medical records.
- Conduct authorizations and pre-certifications, track pre-authorizations, and maintain referrals.
- Ensure adequate stock of supplies, and clean and maintain equipment and waiting rooms.
- Collect and post payments, issue receipts, reconcile daily deposits, and counsel patients on financial information.
- Record daily and monthly statistics and communicate any medical records issues.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program
