About the Role

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join Allegheny Township Medical Associates in Leechburg. In this full-time role, you will be a key member of the health care team, supporting the provider by coordinating patient examinations, treatment, and health care planning. You will follow established protocols and standardized workflows to ensure effective patient care and smooth office operations.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in the coordination of patient care under supervision using a team-based approach.
  • Prepare and room patients within the clinical practice setting according to standardized workflows.
  • Accurately obtain patient vital signs, document patient information, history, and complete tobacco and medication screenings.
  • May assist in the administration of depression screening tools and complete annual wellness visit screenings.
  • Review, update, and screen medication lists in the EHR and review social history with patients.
  • If applicable, pend or 'cue up' orders for required screenings, prescriptions, and refills based on approved protocols.
  • Perform back office testing following approved protocols and policies and assist providers with examinations and procedures.
  • May serve as a scribe with additional training and provide patient follow-up via their preferred method.
  • Notify patients of test results under the direction of the provider in a timely manner.
  • Prepare exam rooms, ensure adequate inventory of medical supplies, and clean and sterilize instruments per policy.
  • Accurately perform lab controls, equipment checks, and administer/document medications in accordance with safe practice.
  • Document accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) and perform clerical office functions.
  • May require floating/travel between physician office locations.

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program OR 1 year of Medical Assistant experience OR 1 year in a direct patient care role including vital signs.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate, Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate, and Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Employees who graduated from a medical assistant program within five years or have one year of work experience as a medical assistant in the last three years must complete certification training/attempt testing within 30 days of hire and obtain certification within 120 days.
  • An accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA).
